LISTEN TO THIS SHORT VIDEO WHERE PATTY GROSSMAN DISCUSSES BABY SAFE & NON TOXIC FABRICS

“I want you to write down two fabric certifications, GOTS, the global organic textile standard and OEKO-TEX 100. They are the assurance that you're putting your baby to sleep on bed linens that don't contain any chemicals of concern. This is a real concern because fabric contains a lot of residual chemicals. Any particular fabric is 75% where it purports to be cotton, organic cotton, cotton poly and 25% residual chemicals, most of which have either a non benign or an unknown toxicity profile. So, OEKO-TEX is the standard at Swiss. They certify that the fabric product is, contains no toxic chemicals that are harmful to health and GOTS also gives the same assurance. So what's the difference between GOTS and OEKO-TEX? Well, OEKO-TEX looks only at the safety of the use of the final product. And OEKO-TEX certified fabric can be and often is an eco disaster to produce. Not so with GOTS. GOTS addresses each step of the production process, you can't use chemicals of concern at any step. You must treat the water at each step so that when released into the ecosystem, it won't harm flora and fauna because even just salty water untreated will eventually hurt all the flora and fauna. It's, there's worker's safety et cetera, et cetera. It's very strict standard. We've noticed however that most consumers are okay with just OEKO-TEX 100 and safety. But we're all animal lovers. And the pollution from fabric production is harming Marine life especially so we encourage you to seek out GOTS. GOTS certified, you can find it even Pottery Barn has it now.”
