Modern Meadow is a biofabrication company based in New Jersey. We know what you're thinking, what the heck is biofabrication? In the design world, biofabrication is a scientific term for using cells, proteins and other living materials, to make fabrics & textiles. Just last year, this New Jersey crew created the world's FIRST biofabricated & animal-free leather called ZOA™.
ZOA™, is derived from the Greek word "zoe" which means "life." ZOA™ is made from collagen, a natural protein, and does not use any animal derived products. Modern Meadow literally created leather made without cows! How amazing is that?
Why is ZOA™ Revolutionary?
The creation of biofabricated leather means that we no longer need to use animals to create leather. If that's not cool, we don't what is! Not using animals for their skins can save over 1 billion animals every single year.
Not only is ZOA™ animal-free, it also has the amazing ability to be used in a variety of forms. That means it can shape to any mold, take on any texture and be used as a liquid spray or as a solid fabric. Talk about futuristic!
